John King is playing this week at The Alley, located at 3325 Grand Ave in Oakland. Please come out tonight, Friday May 10 from 9:00 PM - 2:00 AM. If that's too late notice, don't worry, he'll be there again next week on Thursday, May 16, from 9:00 PM - 1:00 AM and Saturday, May 18, from 9:00 PM-2:00 AM. John plays jazz and American songbook standards and takes requests. See you there!  Rod is still sick with the flu. The Alley is one of the few remaining piano bars in the Bay Area. It is one of a kind. Rod Dibble has played there, 5 nights a week, for the last 50 years! In addition to the music, the bar is also known for it's ambiance. Patrons leave business cards on the wall, and some of the cards also date back 50 years. However, these cards are only one aspect of the decor that makes The Alley a colorful, and truly memorable dive bar. Many of you might not know that, in addition to his skills as a performer and a teacher, John King is also a composer. This week pianist David Oloachea will play John's Piano Sonata as part of the Piedmont Piano's concert series.

John will join City Swing Big Band this weekend at the annual Solano Stroll in Berkeley. The band will take the center stage, located at 1412 Solano, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday 9/11.

During July's Arts Alive! celebration, on July 2, John will perform as a solo pianist from 6:30 to 9:30 at Bon Boniere Ice Cream, 215 F street, Eureka.
John will play from 7 to 9 on Friday, July 1st, at the Oberon Grill in Eureka. It is his first gig in Humboldt County. Playing solo piano, he will compliment the dinner crowd with his own rendition of many jazz standards. Requests accepted!
